hello! I’m nicole, a writer, artist & freelancer
as a writer…
I write about my obsessions: namely, my connection to and exploration of nature, as well as my artistic processes.
My debut collection of poetry, brackish, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2022. Individual poems have been published in several journals, including Novus Literary Arts Journal, The Santa Clara Review, and Wild Roof Journal.
My creative nonfiction work has appeared in Welter, Novus Literary Arts Journal, 300 Days of Sun, and others. I am also the nonfiction editor of miniskirt magazine.
as an artist…
I have been a ceramic artist for seven years, and specialize in functional, wheel-thrown pottery that employs a variety of surface decoration techniques including sgraffito and Mishima.
I am also a photographer focusing on travel, landscape, and portrait photography. I especially love capturing special moments and milestones of couples and other creative individuals. In what little remaining spare time I have left, I illustrate and design apparel, tattoos, and more. You can shop and learn more about my art here.
as a freelancer…
I work as a writer, editor, and content specialist focused in the outdoors and travel industries. I enjoy writing personal essays, travel articles, and gear reviews, and I have years of experience creating UGC for a variety of brands. Some of the other services I offer are: content writing and copywriting for websites, blogs, social media and marketing materials; editing; copyediting and proofreading everything from website copy to full-length manuscripts of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and guidebooks; and UGC for social media and marketing campaigns. Examples of recent projects can be found here.
…
When I’m not writing or wheel-throwing, you’ll likely find me at the beach, on a trail, or exploring new landscapes with my dog, Lyla. I derives most of the inspiration for my creative work from my travels and interactions with various environments, and I am always looking for the next adventure.
